In what I shall consider a personal victory, MTV revealed a new logo today.
The new logo isn’t particularly beautiful or interesting. It has interchangeable photos (in one instance Usher, for some odd reason) and Snooki in the above. It certainly shows that MTV’s new emphasis is no longer on music, contrary to the name of the channel. Instead, MTV’s new logo shows that the focus for the cable television channel is now reality shows, like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom, as well as teen dramas.
This comes just weeks after MTV announced renewals for its reality shows and ordered more teen dramas, such as If You Really Knew Me and Teen Wolf (yes, as in Michael J. Fox’s Teen Wolf. Why anyone thinks this should be a TV show is beyond me. Wasn’t the charm of the original only MJF? He’s a little old to be playing basketball in faux fur, no?)
It seems we were right! MTV is changing because they aren’t about the music anymore! First comes the logo, next the name. Keep pushing for Pregnant Teen TV!
